Clones fit for consumption

The FDA has finally approved the use of meat from cloned animals for human consumption as long as the animal and its "offspring" are healthy. The "final risk assesment" has been obtained by the Washington Post. The assesment states that the decision to allow the use of clones for food is strictly a "scientific-based evaluation" and does not take into consideration "moral, religious or ethical concerns" because the FDA is not permitted, by law, to take these issues under consideration. As of today, the farm animal industry leaders are not planning to slaughter or milk the pricey cloned animals, but to instead use them for further breeding in an attempt to harvest a genetically perfected animal. The FDA also states that they do not plan to require cloned meats to be labeled as such.
